Pokémon 30th Celebration

30 Years, One Global Drop: Everything You Need to Know About Pokémon TCG 30th Celebration

Pokémon is turning 30, and the Pokémon Company is marking it with the biggest special set the TCG has ever seen. 30th Celebration launches worldwide on September 16, 2026 — the first time in the game's history that a set has dropped simultaneously across every region on the same day. No Japan head start, no import premium window. Everyone opens packs together.

If you loved 2021's Celebrations set for the 25th Anniversary, this is that idea scaled up. Here's what's actually in the set, what to chase, and why we think this is one to buy into early rather than chase later.

Every Single Card Is Foil

There's no "if you're lucky" here — every card in 30th Celebration, including the Basic Energy cards, is holofoil and carries the Pokémon 30th Anniversary logo stamp. Each booster pack contains six foil cards: five foil cards plus a foil Basic Energy, and English packs also include a Pokémon TCG Live code card. The set runs to roughly 150 cards once secret rares are counted.

Two Brand New Rarities

This is the headline act for collectors:

  • Pikachu Rare — a numbered subset of 30 mechanically distinct Pikachu cards, each illustrated by a different artist. Every single booster pack guarantees one. With 30 to chase, this is shaping up as the set's long-tail collecting grind — the modern equivalent of "gotta catch 'em all," except it's Pikachu chasing Pikachu.
  • Futuristic Rare — full-art cards with an opalescent finish, illustrated by Tokyo-based artist YOSHIROTTEN. Mew and Mewtwo ex lead this rarity and are already the most talked-about chase cards in the set.

Classic Collection: The Nostalgia Play

Following the 25th Anniversary Celebrations formula, 30th Celebration reprints iconic cards spanning the TCG's entire history — from the original Base Set through GX, LEGEND, VSTAR and into the current era — reworked with modern foil treatments. Three-card Classic Collection packs are guaranteed inside the Espeon ex and Umbreon ex Ultra Premium Collections, and the same chase cards are expected to also turn up in regular booster packs as rare pulls.

Why This One's Worth Getting In Early

The 25th Anniversary Celebrations is the closest comparison point, and sealed product from that release appreciated significantly in the year after launch. 30th Celebration is positioned as a bigger, more premium version of the same idea — all-foil, new rarities, a global simultaneous launch with no staggered demand to spread the hype out. Every major Pokémon anniversary product has trended the same way over time: strong at MSRP, stronger a year later.

Packs won't be sold individually — they only come bundled inside the products above — so sealed availability at MSRP will be the real window. Once shelves clear, this becomes an aftermarket set fast.

Get In Before September 16

We're stocking the 30th Celebration lineup as it becomes available, with priority given to the September 16 launch products. If you're building toward a Pikachu Rare run, chasing the Futuristic Rares, or just want sealed product before the scalping starts, now's the time to get on our list.

Keep an eye on the Vault and our socials over the next few weeks — restock windows for this one won't stay open long.
